ELLs on the Rise
The English Language Learner program is vital to mainstreaming our Latino working-poor neighbors. ELL is a needs-based program, as opposed to ESL which is academic. Our alumni are our best testimony, and their examples motivate others to enroll.
Schools teach Latino children English through mandated English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, but too often their parents are left out therefore holding back entire families. English is the key to empowering our neighbors because lack of English proficiency can perpetuate a cycle of inter-generational poverty.
ELL is a needs-based program.
